Stoked!

Post by Mugwump »

Picking up my pickup tomorrow morning! :D

I've been waiting for this one - and can't wait to get started on it. I sold my '69 Ranger a little while back, and have been a sad puppy with no vintage iron in the driveway ever since. It's a clean, straight and mostly original local Nor-Cal '65 F100 Custom Cab shortbed, 390 (4v), arcadia blue and wimbledon 2 tone. Even had A/C at one time, but this Slick is showing some wear & tear from years of daily-driver use and needs a good once-over. 8)

Yeah, it'll need quite a bit of refreshing and modernizing, but I consider all my other trucks as 'practice' for this one, so I'm hoping for nothing but good things. It already has a disc brake swap, but no P/S or P/B yet, so those will be going in soon. It's a solid runner, but will probably get a more modern transmission than the MX Cruise-o-matic that's in it now. My other trucks have been done 'on the cheap' with whatever parts I could scrounge - this one I plan to keep & drive for a long time, so I'll try to go as first-rate as I can afford.

I'll post up pix as soon as I get it home, and the build thread will follow soon thereafter. Sure glad we have this resource @ Slick60's!

Whew... finally got the slick home around 11pm last night - had my bro go get it for me with the flatbed... not that it wouldn't make it, just hasn't been reg'd and is on non-op. That'll be taken care of monday morning and I can take her out for a spin.

After going over the truck a little more closely today, there are plenty of issues that'll need to be addressed - mostly cosmetic. First order of business... tires and a front bumper.
