its a good thing I like rat rods !

I am not meant to have perfect paint !

I had real problems with my driver side door and fender, I was expecting the door I built our of two doors (passenger) to be the problem.. but no !

I finally came to the conclusion that mt driver door hinges were bent, and the hinge pockets or post area was tweaked a little. heaven knows I rebuilt a BUNCH of the bottom where it was rusted away. I have so many shims in there, and I usually never need even one. So no matter how I tried I had chewed some paint up on the back edge of the cowl and the front edge of the driver door.. what a truck...

Anyhow then today I was installing the radio wires between the door and door post.. eyed it all out, stuck a board between the door and cab to protect the drill bit from doing anything crazy... get almost finished and the board drops and I hit the passenger fender with a turning half inch drill bit ! needless to say that slightly marred the paint..

man you gotta laugh, cause nothing else will work..

I don't think I could ever build a car or truck with perfection in mind, I think thats the beauty of the rat rods.. you get all the fun of the radical build, and none of the grief of a nice finish, and maintaining it !

i hope I can get the paint repaired decent, I am almost embarrassed to let my buddy with the shop see how bad I have gouged things up...

on his Blue and White 64 I did put the first dent/scratch in it when we mounted the box. Went to push it forward to center it and pushed to hard and hit the back of the cab.......

That is surprising considering how long the 64 ran around without a box on it :D.

I would respectfully ask that if a drivers side door is worn and sagging, why couldn't you swap the hinges to the other side and expect them to be better (in effect, turn the hinge upside down and put the load on the other side of the hinge). Think about the sag and wear and where the wear is going to occur when you swap them.
I'm not arguing with you. I'm just explaining why I'm right.
Pardon me. Does your deaug bite?

I think they were bent from anger? or abuse? the cowl was caved in from something when I got it.. I just used different hinges in the end...

Story of my life with my truck...

Repainted the truck and didn't put the weatherstripping on it.... When everyone opens the door they want to slam it like a tank??? :?
Needless to say big clip in the paint same day it was finished...

I too was ment to have dings & scratches.
After 4 years of driveway abuse I have right front quarter dent and left rear quarter dent and numerus scratches from a lawn mower.I wonder who did that. Oh well! At least all the bondo on the doors is still intact! the tractor supply paint job still looks pretty good with a little wax once in a while. I still get lots of looks around town. SOMETIMES I WONDER WHAT THEY ARE THINKING !LIKE THATS ALL HE CAN AFFORD TO DRIVE! Poor Guy! Its paided for and fun to drive ha ! ha!
