I put in the numbers to that trans, RF-C5FR-7A040-A, and it is a Ford 3 spd manual. But my search results also said that particular trans with those numbers were used on Pontiac GTOs, and other GM models, from 1964-1972 lol. Some GMs used Ford's transmissions because they needed a heavy duty 3 spd, and well, GM isn't capable of doing that lol

It's a 60's -up full-synchro 3 speed "top-loader" used in a multitude of applications, thus the dual bell housing pattern. Pretty good trans in it's day, especially compared to the earlier trans with non-synchro 1st gear!
May be able to add more application info if you can read the attached tags. The tailhousing would indicate use in a 65-up application.

Since the tags are intact, it would be easy to determine original application. The dual pattern on the rear mount has got me wondering. It's a '65 up application.

trans is sitting in a old van in the back of my property and I finally remembered to bring a pencil and paper out, couldn't read the tag at first then I tried using a pencil and paper and tracing it with the side of the pencil but that didn't work so went over the # with the side of the pencil lead and they showed up pretty good. OK, NOW I need the info from the tailshaft bolt tag to determine exact year and model. I don't have a listing for a RAT-F1; the closest match is RAT-AF-1, which originally was installed in a '70 model F250 4x2, 131 wb. w/390. The Hollander interchange lists this trans assembly under 457A which fits '66-up big block Fairlanes, Comets, Galaxies, and various big Mercs as well as 65-up F100's/250's, thus the 3.03 designation, which is the imput shaft collar length for FE motors as well as 300 sixes.

Toyz, can't find any other tags on transmission, only thing is a metal strap , I guess for the speedometer cable. Thanks Tom

I mistook that tab for a tag which would be found on the 2.77 and 2.97 imput sleeve versions. pretty safe to say it was a 3.03 from the medium to larger cars or trucks.
