Re: c10 subframe??
Yeah I know I got mine with all the brackets off for the twins so I'm just seeing what the Chevy c10 cross member looks like. I'm not interested in a car suspension or a little truck. No offense

Yes Anthony thanks but I would like to see if anybody has just installed the cross member on original frame.

Re: c10 subframe??
Na no offense but I want a full size truck suspension under my full size truck. C10 looks straight forward.

Re: c10 subframe??
Not to rain on anyone's parade but for general info. All the years I worked as a Fleet Mechanic for a Utility Company, the most frame & suspension work was done on Chrysler(Dodge) pickups, then GM(Chev&GMC), and lastly the Ford pickups. The Ford pickup frames very seldom needed repairs when it seemed we were constantly fixing Dodge and GM Frames and suspensions. Of course all these pickups were used in situations that normal vehicles are never subjected to as vehicles are just another tool to get the job done to those guys and while working on the vehicles, we all kept the thought that we had to protect the vehicles form the abuses they would receive from the users.

Re: c10 subframe??
why so adverse to car or other truck suspensions? I said on the hamb and i'll say it here the jag xj is of similar mount design as the c10 but easier to swap in this case. and the jag was a VERY similar weight class at around 4000lb. I know the c10 is easier to find. if you intend to go low the c10 is gonna require sectioning or z'ing the frame or doing it as a full front clip.
And Dakota is NOT a Small/Little truck. it's closer to the same class as the f100....ken....

Re: c10 subframe??
Porterbuilt posted on FB that they'll have an IFS front suspension ready in a couple months. If the budget allows it, it would definitely be worth the wait. Will be 100% bolt in.

Re: c10 subframe??
This is supremely irritating lol. Making my c30 front clip work on the front of my ford had been a lot of work lol. And now that that part is done, they come out with this clip ugh lol.

Re: c10 subframe??
I bought a custom C10 drop member from Porterbuilt for my '66. Top notch quality stuff. Wish I would have waited for the ford version, but I will be building the rest of the frame for mine.

Re: c10 subframe??
i looked at installing a c10 crossmember in my unibody but the frame is wider on the c10 which makes it difficult to make the swap.
why put off till tommorow what you can put off alltogether

Re: c10 subframe??
The frame width wasn't the issue for me but the track width is kinda wide.

Re: c10 subframe??
On my build, I had to get the crossmember with the narrowed track width, narrowed the control arms, and had the wheels rehooped and the offset changed. It works great now but it was a lot of work. But I wanted the 1 ton 8 lug stuff on mine which gave me little option.
