I think the price is a bit high for haveing so much brand X stuff in it. If the body is truly good and realy nice paint then it could still be worth some $.

We are purists (for the most part ;) ) so don't hate us for not liking chevys!

I believe the suggestion was that someone in here buy the poor cross-bred waste. probably very few in here with that interest..................

Watched many many of them cross-breeds go thru ebay. If they have a reserve on them, they simply don't sell. If they don't have a reserve, they go for pennies on the dollar, of what they would have with a proper drivetrain. I really don't have to make much more of a criticism than that.. an economic one. It is a bad idea financially to swap a cross breed drivetrain into a Slick.

This applies to many vehicles, it isn't really an unknown concept among Ford people. A 69 Boss 302 with a Camaro clip and a 350/350 would certainly not draw the bucks, no matter what condition the body was in, either. Even a kit-car AC Shelby with a 350 in it is not gonna draw like one with a Ford, from what I have seen. It works in reverse, too. A 69 Z-28 with a Ford 302 and a Mustang2 clip, isn't going to pull the kind of money you would have got, even if the original 302 Chebby engine didn't even run! So it's simply a matter of being slightly in tune with who your buying public is gonna be.

Fat Fender Fords were so commonly fitted with another brand of engine in the past, that they might get an even dollar, Garbz tells me that '32 Fords are even worth MORE with a 350 installed, I am from Missouri on that judgment. But after (and including)the Fat fenders, Ford guys want Ford engines. Or at least thats the conclusion I get from watching them on Ebay..

Cross bred or inbred, usually quality and craftsmanship set the value.

Lighten Up!!!!

Post by Mellvis »

I think it is all a matter of opinion. I only like old trucks that are MOSTLY stock, but lots of people here change several aspects of thier slick. I'd rather see one slammed with 22 inch spinners and a Toyota engine than see it rusted in half in a bone yard headed for the crusher. We all like the Slicks, don't get rough with someone who isn't as pure as you, there is probably someone more pure than you! My slicks are so pure they still have the original rust. It's all about the love of the truck, not finding how many people think just like ourselves.

perfectly put....

BUT C#@^Y engines in fords has just become another severely over used cliche in my book. It seems that anybody that is a quote "HOTRODDER" thinks you need a 350... I just think it sucks. You wanna do it? go for it. I wont ooh and aah over your engine though.

For me it's kinda like finding out that the HOT CHICK you been hitting on all night actually has a DICK duct taped to "her" leg... a wee bit of a turnoff, eh?
'63 with 390 & lots of juice. But never enough. Always want more.

Face it, people use Chey stuff because it can be interchanged so easily. Chevy has one primary bell housing pattern. It's the same for small block, big block, and sixes. To go from an inline six to a big block you simply change the frame engine mount pads, exhaust and a bigger radiator. There may be a few other things, but that's about it.
I won;t argue that Chevy is better than Ford, I've tried to kill a few Fords and couldn't. Chevys......I can't say that.

Hey, at least no one is telling us to make our Slicks pedal-power! (yet)
