Topless Slick

Has anyone every seen a 61-66 truck with the top cutoff? I've got a 63 Uni with the big window and the top is welded to the cab. Guessing thats something unique to the Big window as the 63 step and the 66 LWB I have seem to be one peice at the back of the cab.
The welded seam on 63 BW is rusting. So, would it be possible to cut off the top? The door seems to be the real challenge.

I did have a pic of a local pro-streeted Uni with no top...beats me where I put it, though.

I think it would look great,, if the windshield was chopped a little, the body lowered,, make for a awsome lookin slick,, watch for rain!!!!!!!

That may not be such a good idea on a UNI.
Visible weld??.... Could be that was an original standard window and a P/O had a big window welded in.

I believe we are referring to this.

I think an ideal way to deal with the door would be to do something like this, especially if going for a removable hardtop effect.

I wondered about the welded seam. Is there anyone else with the big window on a uni that can compare how the back of the cab is put together?

There was one that had the top off and made like a old roadster. It was on the front of one of the old parts mags a few years ago. Maybe someone still has the mag and can scan it.

Heavy: A worse idea would be that truck with a ----- drivetrain. I feel for the poor truck, especially if it was in Oregon. Maybe a rolling hot tub.

there are 3 different stampings that are used on the rear of the cab

1 is the conventional cab rear, entire back including window section is 1 piece.
2 and 3 are the uni rear window sections, standard and bbw, they are between the rear roof seam and bed. there should be no visible weld on the outside, the inside has lips top and bottom, spot welded to the roof and cab/bed front.

I have the cab that is tack welded. A previous owner had repainted the truck, but obviously was unable to stop the corrosion between the metal pieces. What would be the best way to do that?

I'd put a picture here, but how?
