Santa's Chrome

Post by Dakota Kids »

Hey Guys I hope everyone enjoyed the Holidays. Does anyone have any suggestions on chrome shops. I need to get my nice Red Grille Chromed and my Narrowed Frnt Bumper, :help: I know Edmonton used to have one but I heard they shut down. North or South of the Border is fine.

There is a chrome shop in Sioux City Iowa, Not sure how far they are from you guys but I do know they have a truck route to different areas and pick up stuff that needs chromed and takes it back to Sioux City. If you need more info I can look it up for you as they have a place here in Des Moines where you can drop stuff off and they take it to be done.................Kid

Craig,

There is/was a place in Phoenix, don't know if they are still around or not. They did some rechroming for me sometime during the 70s, and did a good job. Guess a lot of these type places have been run out of business by EPA and bad economic things. I didn't realize they were getting scarce now. If you want, I can try to find out if they are still around, but the transportation may kill any deal there. I may be going up to your part of the country again this summer, but that would only be one way unless you could wait till the next summer till SS. Talk about long-range planning.

The chrome shop in Sioux City Iowa is Sioux Plating Co and their phone # is 1-800-228-8630. I've been in the automotive business for over 30 years and I have never heard any bad comments about these guys, Good Luck Randy

Craig,

The major chroming outfit in Alberta/Saskatchewan is Alberta Plating in Calgary, Lethbridge and Medicine Hat. But from what I hear they are expensive. You would be better looking Stateside for both transportation and plating costs.

A couple in Regina are: Canadian Plating (has 2 locations in Regina) and Custom Chrome.

If you want a contact number, I can get it for you.

Didn't know that chrome shops were hard to come by.

Craig , I have used Supreme Plating and Fairmont Electroplating and had excellent results. Both are located in Edmonton, Alberta. I can't imagine what shipping would cost you though. I can dig more info if you need.

Mark out here on my edge a chrome shop is as tough to find as a shop who will chop windshields for a slick... I have had some problems finding a chrome shop. I have been refered to the one in Edmoton but I was told it shut down. Now if there is one in Regina that is only 180 miles from me. Dean a contact number would be great Thanks Kid and everyone I will have to check it out Going from none to a couple I can go chrome shopping. Randy thanks for the contact Number I'll see how they compare to Regina. Fred I'm sure if I had you deliver something it would get here fast.

There is a chrome shop in Quincy, Illinois that my street rod buddies use. I think the name is Precision Plating. There is also a chromer in Sterling/Rock Falls, Illinois.
If you continue to buy imports, where will your children work?
