HI, new here, gotta big slick

Post by grm61 »

Just found this site, reading through some of the posts, I see some interest in the big trucks.. So I'll post some pics. 1963 F600 292 2V 5 speed Clark 2 speed rear. I Picked this up about 2.5 months ago, have stake/sidboards for it not shown, We've got alot of rock and gravel to haul this spring, and I'm going to haul my Jeep on it. Its already coming in handy, its loaded with tree limbs right now. You can put alot of crap on that 16' deck with the sideboards on.
So far, I am really enjoying this old girl.

BOING!!!

Very Very nice truck!!! Did I say WOW!!!

Post some pics with the racks installed!

A good set of ramps and a good winch and that would double as a car hauler. I guess now all you need is a f-100 to haul around.

Welcome from Louisiana. I am so jealous! The only thing that would make it better if it were a COE. Personally I would make a car hauler out of it.

Yes it was, I traded a nice 84 Yamaha FJ 1100 for it. The PO owners statement on the add..."ready for work or play" was not quite correct....

The truck was running on 6 and sometimes 5 cyl and not charging, one working taillight out of four, flat inside rear tire, before I attemted to take it home, I bought a .5" shorter gen belt and installed it.... WALLA... charging problem fixed, much to the amazement of the PO... aired up the tire and headed out. I got 2/3s of the way up snoqualmie pass at 10:00 at night torrential rain and the headlights started flashing on and off, and the water pump started PUKING coolant out the weep hole.

Turned off the lights for 10 min at the top of the pass and pressed on, made it home.....without getting hot.

The motor has a rebuild tag on it .10/.10/.60 and had NO blowby...I figured worst case scenario I would have to do a valve job.
This guy hadn't done anything to the truck, not even try to tune it up. It had 60 miles put on it the 2 years he owned it.

Turns out up untill the PO got it, it lived here in Cle Elum owned by one guy for 35 years, he had the registrations to prove it.

I checked the valve adj, they were all in spec, and the motor was spotless clean inside...The plug wires I'm sure were put on, on the engine stand when the motor was rebuilt...that could have been 20 years ago but not much time on the engine....they were rotten and falling apart and were all all ran through the old factory brackets.

Did a FULL tune and replaced the water pump, runs smooth as glass now.

My theory is the guy that had it for 35 years in Cle Elum got to old to take care of it...And sold it to the guy I got it from, who was not a mechanic....but liked the truck.

Thanks, according to ND over on the other forum this is a factory Custom Cab and extremely rare today on the old F600s.
Apparently you got the door handle plates like mine when you ordered the Custom Cab package without sidetrim, other items that denote the Custom Cab on this truck are the aluminun grill and headlight bezels, Right hand sun visor, right hand vent, cig lighter, foam rubber seat etc.
