For those with crown vic frame swaps what wheels

Post by 61ford »

been looking at different wheel offsets and such for my 88 crown vic swap.the factory wheels stick way too far in and im trying to find a set of wheels preferbly torque thrust style that will get them out to the edge of the fender.anyone handy enough with offsets to know what i might need? i was looking at bits truck and hes running the same wheels thats on my 94 ranger so i was gonna try to slide one over on it to get an ideal but looking at his truck i think id like for them to get just a little bit farther out.

Well with the wheels being too far in, you've got a lot of options for wheels. I think the factory wheels on an '88 would have no offset, probably 6" wide. you could run an 8" width with no offset and gain an inch, a lot of vintage style wheels like the torque thrust come with a number of back spacing options.

Decide on the tire size you want, then find a rim that will fit, then work backwards to the offset you need.

If you intend to slam the truck, remember to account for wheel sweep in a turn, Slick's front fenders really need you to tuck the wheels in...

Some help sorting out wheel offset/backspacing confusion etc.

thats bout how its gonna sit not slammed but kinda lowered.prolly somewhere in a 205 or 215 tire im wanting either a 16 or 17 inch wheel but i dont want to run really low profile tires i like to keep everything proportional not mammoth wheels with hardly any rubber. Thanks for pointing that out on the fenders i see why bit didnt bring his wheels out as far as i want to never thought bout fender i was concerned bout it rubbing frame or gearbox.soon as i get my mounts made ill slide my ranger wheels over and take some pics and report back.thanks
