What's the word on the streets in Daytona about Mikey and his "oiled" intake?

Haven't heard and don't know what advantage oil in the intake would be. Racecar mechanics are a strange breed.

from nascar.com

"In Waltrip's case, NASCAR inspectors found an unusual substance in his intake manifold before qualifying, confiscated the engine piece then shipped it to North Carolina for analysis.

Later in the day, NASCAR impounded Waltrip's Toyota and said the stock car would be inspected from bumper to bumper. With the garage closed today, that inspection won't happen until Wednesday.

Waltrip later changed engines and qualified 25th. He told the media the substance was motor oil that worked its way into the manifold."

In the newspaper here, it said that he was using aircraft fuel. With really high octane that gummed up the intake.

Aircraft fuel will NOT gum up the intake. I used to put 5 gallons of 100LL thru my 390 every 6 months or so to clean it out.

After 2007, Daytona 500 There was road rage on the way home. One incident was a fatality near where we live. a Bit Much I'd say. :dontknow:

It's only an Auto Race, and Sandbagging, Intentional Take Outs and other sorts of unscrupulous "Racin' Things" take place nearly every race now. This time a guy is dead & 3 people are locked up & charged with Murder. :hm:

The Final claim on Mikeys' Toyota is there was traces of Rocket fuel in the intake. . . . . there would be no advantage to that without the Oxygen also to make it combust. Rocket fuel NASA uses takes Liquid Oxygen to make it ignite, quasi normal atmosphere is not enough. :hm: :bs:

NASCAR = North American Sandbaggers Cheats And Ripoffs

It also brings Daytona to a halt traffic wise for a week, What's wrong with that? . . . . :peepwall: :nono: :hm: :bangin: :stick: :boohoo:  :sleepy2:

But on the up side the circus is gone again until the 4th of July.

FBp  :rotflmao:  :thumright:

Just read a article that said the substance in Waltrips intake was Sterno, the stuff in a can used in camp stoves. Something about it raising the Octane level as it blended in with the Fuel to give more HP.............Kid

So why didn't he have to sit out the race then Kid? Is cheating OK now in NASCAR?

'course I'd LOVE to see that toyota setting on the side collecting tire dust , anyway...
It's a race.. Will hell freeze over or will JC finish his truck first. Stay tuned..

I don't know JC. I guess since cheating ( bending the rules ) is prevelent in Racing it is accepted. All the old timers laugh at some of the things they are doing. Some time ago they interviewed some old timers and they told of some of the things they used to do. BP told that they used to use breakaway bolts to hold the rear bumpers on so when they go out on the track they would brake in front of someone they didn;t care for and being run into the back of would tear the rear bumper area off and the car would run better. They had all kinds of little tricks . One guy used to hide a Nitrouse bottle under the drivers seat and another told that they used to have to run with the windows down for more wind resistance so they would put windows in the car and when they came by where they could be seen they rolled the window down, and when they could not be seen it was rolled up, he said they spent more time rolloing the window up and down that they did shifting..............Kid

Not NASCAR topic related, but...

Avgas (100LL) is gooooooooooooood stuff! Especially in our trucks with no catalytic converters. It burns hot and will eat those up eventually (unless you mix it with unleaded).

I ran it in my 74 F100 with a 302 as well as a Kawasaki Ninja with absolutely no problems.

Cool thing is in the winter time when the truck was idling and this pure white smoke would puff out of the exhaust and smell like an airplane.

Cheating.....I guess some things never change. They used to do more in the "old days" It's just alot easier to get caught now with fewer grey areas. Didn't Cale Yarborough(sp?) get caught with a expanding fuel tank one time so he could go more laps? Hey Pete, intentional takeouts have always been in racing, in Nascar or the bull rings on sat. night. Just duking it out in the garage is the only thing has changed. Now they go to "anger managment classes", I could see Tony Stewart recalling them in the interview after his day ended.

I really get tired of watching those broke down chevies win, know why they win RESTRICTOR PLATES Put one of those on a Ford & kills the running NASCAR CAN SAY ALL THEY WANT ABOUT SLOWING THE CARS DOWN BULL Only reason is for a chevy to win on restrictor plate running If a Ford wins by pure luck just like being on the pole pure luck I like Mark Martin but if he won that would be downgrading to Ford cause he had to go to a Chevy to do it just like that sorry commercial with Jimmie Johnson downgrading Elliot Sadler showing his trophy PS HE CAN STICK THAT TROPHY WHERE THE SUN DOES NOT SHINE & where did it get him in the wall GOOD FOR HIM I don't know how some of the other longtime fans feel but around here NASCAR IS GOING TO You know where,, Michael should have been escorted as well off & let the car sit for 4 weeks,,, Mark my words tracks in the south for nascar races are going to loose people coming for this junk, If you think I am wrong just think,, How come so many tickets left for the 500 or the Bud Shoot Out my son went told him to sit anywheres or here in Charlotte tickets for any race & as low as 37.00 where just a few years ago 97.00 as seat & waiting list & car of the future HAH THAT A JOKE But who is going to say something drivers sure not with the money they get & if they refuse somebody around the corner to take the place Hope this does not offend people but just my :2cents: something had to say Truck race is better till NASCAR Screws up that !!!!!!!!
