brake & turn signal problem

Post by walts 66 »

Just got done putting in a new turn signal cam so my blinkers will cancel on their own. Now my left rear light brake & blinker does not work. I checked the bulb and it is good. So, did I do something wrong ? Tks. for any info. My truck's a 66.

Walt:
you might check the contact points to ensure they are making contact on the back side of the cam.
if your pulled the turn signal assembly up and out of the steering column check the wire and connections (2) under the dash to make sure all is good there also. When I replaced my turn signal switch I had the same issue, after several hours of checking this and retracing that I finally checked the two connections where the turn signal plugs into the wire harness- Thats where I found my problem- a couple of loose spades in the connectors.
Hope this helps- enjoy your Slick Brian

Walt.
One question.
Do all the other turn lights and brake lights work properly?
If not, you might have the wrong power feed going to the turn signal cam.
There are two power wires going to the turn signal cam. One is for the emergency flashers, in which case you might have the issue you're describing.
The other wire is the one that should connect to the flasher.
But it sounds like a broken wire or ground problem at the socket.
I use a pencil eraser in a battery powered drill to clean the contacts in the socket.
Try that.

I'm not arguing with you. I'm just explaining why I'm right.
Pardon me. Does your deaug bite?

it has been my experience that some of the after market t/s cams are junk. take your wheel back off, switch on the turn signal, and apply a little pressure to the cam arms where the contacts are while having someone watch the offending light.
i'll bet it starts working.
