Well, I am going to start a build thread. It won't be fancy, just enough to replace the cab and make her look nice again.
I have done all the mechanical work and safety upgrades, and replaced the core support, so the body and paint work are next.
I have bought so far some Eastwood Seam Sealer and Rust Encapsulator. I read several articles that say the Encapsulator is superior to POR-15.

Cab has arrived, and I will start work on it to seal and rust proof the minor areas that need attention. Thanks to Bill Wilson, there is only a little more to do!

Ha! That's what I said a few weeks ago. I'm about $750 over budget.

Looking good- I'm going to be doing the EXACT same thing with mine, So I'll be watching this close!!

I like how you handled the cab with the hoist- I never thought of doing it that way...

I did that with the dash from my parts truck. Shortened and welded the two pieces together. Works great and have had several people ask if it was stock. Go for it!

More work on the cab. I have found that it is easier just to remove multiple layers of paint down to bare metal with a wire wheel grinder, rather than try to feather the paint, especially in areas that the sander does not reach! The vent grill openings in the cowl vent for example.
Also, inside the cab, and under the hood, I will not do the same level of work as for a fender or hood, for example. I guess that is ok, but that would really expand the work.

No easy way to get all that rust/paint off...did you consider media blasting? I'm debating to take it off with sander/grinder/wire wheel or have it media blasted ($250 here in town) or buy a blaster and do it myself...pros/cons to all the methods I reckon.

Blasting would cost me about $300, and is 50 miles from here, plus the truck to transport it is the truck being blasted - so that would be an additional cost.
I have more time than money right now, so the extra work isn't that much of a burden, but yea, blasting would be much more efficient.

I would either spend $20.00-30.00 for a full faceshield, or spend the $300.00 to have it blasted, because WHEN (not if) you get one of those wires off the wheel in your eye, the medical bills will be far more than the blasting costs.
I don't want to go on a rant here, but when I see people working without a faceshield, in frickin sandals??.....you may very well have gotten away with this for YEARS, but it is inevitable that eventually something will happen, and it will not be pleasant, or inexpensive, so please everyone, do yourselves a favour and prepare for the task at hand!!
