"I think my radiator core support is solid", it turns out to not be so solid. What exactly needs to be done to one of those aftermarket core supports to make them fit? I searched but could not find particulars other than they can be made to work.

You will either need to cut your inner fender brackets off and put them on the new support or manufacture new brackets. I just laid mine side by side and noted the differences. The brackets are the big deal. You may have to enlarge the holes for the wiring to go through. I think I had to a bit of triming on the opening for the radiator for the support brackets. My core support was for a 64 and my truck is a 65. The after market supports are made like the 64. I don't have any pics of it step by step sorry.

If you have a 66' truck and core support, you as angel said have to either remove and reweld the inner fenders, the one I just did had 9 spotwelds. A 66' has brackets on the radiator itself and not on the support. The repop support has radiator brackets on it, you will have to remove them, have your radiator modified to fit or get a 65' radiator, A 66' is the only year that didn't have the brackets on the support. Now if you leave the brackets on, there is a gusset about half way up that has to be shortened a little. It's sounds complicated but it's not. I just did one for Banjo, a couple of hours. The repop ones are very nice quality and as Tom from flasback's will tell ya , a good 66' core support is rare. Hope this helps.

Williamston? I passed through there last night on my way home from Kinston to Elizabeth City! I stopped at the Red Apple to use the room and gave a guy a compliment gassing up his 64 Olds. I sent the other guy in EC a pm the other day but havn't heard back yet.

If you went by way of prison camp road comming in to williamston( it goes in front of the Bob Martin building ) you went right by my house. you can also try www.greensalescompany.com i got my support from them many years back. Also a friend of mine in Edenton, NC George Brickhouse has a junk yard with a few slicks for parts only. 252-482-0228 He does not ship anything anywhere, pick up yourself or if he is going your way he will deliver.F-Zilla wrote:Williamston? Lonnie, thank's for the leads, I'll try the guy in Edenton, can you cruise his yard? I never heard of Green, I usually use the mainstream suppliers I'll have to check them out. I come and go through Williamston on 17 and 64. I pass through quite a bit for work, to get to any where else in NC from Elizabeth City you just about have to pass through Williamston. Your truck looks pretty nice in your pics!
