Gas tank
Gas tank
Anyone had any experience with a replacement gas tank for a 66 F100 form LMC Truck. I have tried cleaning the original and now have had to replace fuel pump and clean system again. Best option is going to be new tank. Just wondering if anyone has had any problems or the quality of a LMC tank.

Maybe its just luck but I have never had any trouble using it after cleaning. It was always sent out to the local Radiator shop and they clean it up in their tanks . They have even repair a few minor rust holes. It has always been cheap in price in my area. Maybe just plain lucky but has worked many times for me in the garage or my own vehicles. Don

yes there was tanks behind the seats in the crewcabs of the trucks 73-77 in reg. cabs & 4x4's then in 250/350 crew cabs and then bigger trucks in the 78/79 where as option,, took a tank out of a 79 4x4 that was in calif that is why Ford list the in tank sending unit D7TZ-9275-G Which D7 Means 1977 but this is the same unit used from 1961 on up trucks,,, all tanks are different,, 1956, then 57-60, then 61-69, then 70-72 and 73-up All the later tanks will fit by some modifications since the later ones have a little more capacity but get in the way of your seat but have installed in thes just like taking a 57-60 putting in a 56 but have to cut a hole in the cab just like taking 2 53-55 gas tanks putting both under a 56 by using all 4 running board brackets from the 55 and turning the neck around to use on the pass.side have a filler hose to fill both tanks from the pass.side on the 56 or taking a 70/72 Econoline tank mount inside the frame rails on the rear of any 53-72 Ford Truck F-100/250 But good luck on these tanks finding or cut the frame behind the cab on 61-72 trucks then graft a 73-79 frame so the you can put a aft tank at the rear then also put the wider rear end so that your truck looks like its tracking better,, I can go and on but finger gettin tired ,, OOPS I forgot and almost sure about 42-47 trucks within cab tanks since it takes the same gas neck grommet as the 48-52 trucks does

I have a 65 f100. So a 70/72 econoline tank will mount up? What about an auxillary tank from a 67/68 camper special? If the frames are the same between the 65 and 68, shouldn't I be OK? I was thinking of keeping my old cap and filler neck sticking out of the cab for looks, but installing a port on the bed that looks like something from a 66 bronco matched to the 68 tank. At least I staying all Ford

those auxilary tanks where used on long beds since a lot of room to fit under the crossmembers, I AM Not sure if they did them on short beds have not sen any on short beds but that does not mean they are out there
