kingpin shims

Post by chaser1602 »

I'm replacing kingpins and bushings right now. There is 8 shims that come with the kit. What is the clearance betqween the spindle and I beam,or is it 2 on top and 2 on the bottom?

Howdy

It should go thrust bearing on the bottom and shim the top with as many as will slide in freely.

Be sure to check for binding or excessive play after you install the kingpin and adjust as requried

The specs on the larger trucks is .003 - .010

I could not find a spec for the f100/250 in my info

OK.Thanks.Igot that part down with the shims and bearing.I thought there shold be a clearance in there but couldnt remember how much.I think I saw .002 at one time for the f100.
Anyway 1 side took 3 and it went good.Started with 3 one the other side and hand 2 much play.Went with 1 more and it was a pain to get the bearing back in.But no play or binding

Glad it went well for you Chaser

I checked out the pictures in your profile. You have a nice looking truck there.
Thats about the same shade of blue that I am going with on mine.

What kind of bike racing you in to?
Motorcycles were a big part of my life for about 30 years.
