How do I trace the history of my truck? I would like to know more than is shown on the VIN plate. Also, the color section on my VIN plate is blank!!
Does this mean something or did I get a MON-FRI tag that was not stamped?
Truck documentation?

Truck documentation?
Good info!! I am guessing this truck was a fleet truck. It appears that the original paint was orange. I have double and triple checked the numbers and there is not a color number. Oh well the mystery continues!
Aint we got fun!
Thank you all

Is there a number in the DSO spot? Our 63 had no color code due to being a special order for the government, it was camo.
Check the DSO spot for a number and post it please.

I think if the color code is blank the truck was clear. The clear trucks were made for government spies, so noone could see them make a quick get-away!

The 6 digit DSO means teh truck was a special order or a fleet order. The lack of a color code would normally indicate a special order but on trucks, fleet orders very regularly also had special paint from teh fleet book (same place regular vehicles got special paint color choices from). The first two digits of your DSO are where the truck was shipped to for delivery and the last 4 digits are the last four digits from the original order form. The plant your truck was built at can be determined from the serial number. Hawkrodfurnitureguy-123 wrote:My DSO number is 251768. I think this tells me it was built in Richmond VA?
Thank you!!!!
