Took the carb off last night
Started tearing it down
The bowl had some nasties in it from sitting around for ... 4 years ?
The jet was plugged with some of it
Cleaned it up real good & some compressed air
No need to tear it down further , as it looks pretty good
Put it back on ... fired right up
Adjusted the idle & jet
Purrs like a kitten ... a 55 year old one ton kitten
Really need to get some drive time on it to get any bugs out

20 mile drive last night
My turn signals work , but not my brakes
I put a new switch in , but I haven't checked for voltage yet
Tail lights don't work either ... simple fixes that just take some time
Need to get the bed back on ....
Local gal is making me some vinyl 350 numbers for the hood emblems
Got to find a foot pedal
50 mph seems like a nice comfortable speed
Seems like it is gonna have plenty for the trailer ... we will find out
Rides like a ....... one ton truck with no bed

Took Colleen for a 34 mile round trip to Salina
Put in 1/2 tank of premium & split an icecream bar
Gas was $2.70 gallon , ice cream bar was $2.09
That was a cheap date

Got some drips .... not terrible

Big ole mud Dobber dirt nest come flying out of the Heater
That didn't impress her much

Sounds like an adventure

The engine I put in has been sitting in a shed about 4-5 years
Seems like when they do that, they make the water real rusty ...
So I was going to drain it & flush...
Man was it yucky !
So I decided to pull radiator back off & flush it also
Yep ... plenty of "stuff" came out ....
I figured the heater coil would be the same....
Not much air came out the vents anyway.......... so
Decided to pull it & clean it up right
Pulled it out , disassembled & flushed and washed the core clean
Put it all back in
Amazing how much heat & air they produce when they are clean as new
Filled with antifreeze ... should be good a long time ..
Tomorow ... got to get that trailer attached

Did I mention we got 4" of rain yesterday ?
No field work ..

I waited until 2 weeks ago to swap steering columns, rewire the whole truck, put all new gauges in it and tune it up. Now I think it's suck crap out of the gas tank so i have to pull the tank and clean it out and hope that cures it.

Just figured out the leak is from the dizzy
Gonna pull it & put in a new gasket or whatever it has

About 150 miles of road time
I feel pretty sure it is road worthy

Short (5 mile) test ride pulling the SLICKSTOCK Camper
Handles good .. it ain't no horsepower king !
50 mph on flat ground seems fairly good
Got to get wider mirrors !

Just to finish this old post up...
Truck pulled the camper to KC perfect
Had a little brake issue in KC after unhooking the trailer
But got it fixed without too much trouble

Trip home was relaxing ... checked GPM
13 pulling trailer 15 empty

Have put about 2000 miles on the ol beast ... runs good

Tomorrow is going to be a very different load....

My brother passed away
One of his request was...
“I don’t want to ride in a dam hearse”
“Take me to the cemetery in the back of an old truck”

So..... I was asked if I could do it ... so that’s what I’m doing tomorrow

Sorry for your troubles Pat.
Seems its going around, our maid of honor left us a few days ago, as well all I keep thinking is "The good they die young" we just attended her oldest daughters wedding.
