valve adjustment?

Hey Guys. I am trying to adjust the valves on my 1980 300-6. Am I supposed to torque them down tight and make any adjustments with the push rods? Or do I adjust them like I used to on my 66. Taking out the end play and then another 1/4 to 1/2 turn. Any help will be appreciated!!!
I have all the manuals for my 66 but I have none for an 80.

i see you have 50 veiws and no answers as of yet, there is another site that might give you a better result in that department since you are workin on an 80model http://www.f150online.com/forums/pre-1997-models-51/ i am a member over there dont spend much time there as of late but some great info to be had.... a few guys are a little ....shall we say, blunt, yea blunt is a good word. but very sharp on those trucks and will help you out. hope this helps.
