just picked up two decent 67-72 styleside tailgates for $20 for the pair! For that price I will live with the lettering font being slightly off.

Sounds like you hit the jack pot for $20. Wish that I could run across a deal like that.

What a deal at $10 twice! How different are they from those on the Slicks? Is it just the font lettering?

Here's a quick pic I snapped earlier today before I had to run off to a wedding.

I see more of the later tail gates on restored trucks then the orignal ones, nothing wrong with this, I have a 67 on my truck.

The font is different, they have a ring around the letters and the ridge and the top is larger than the 65-66 gates. I just got a 65-66 gate for PFM for 40 bucks last month to put on his crew cab. He did not want the 72 gate I got him first.

Like the later front bumpers that Ford replaced the originals with when buying new ones, the tailgate is of similar design and is correct from the replacement perspective, and for most of us is close enough. As to 100 point show correct, who give a big rats bass! I preffer the originals but does it really matter on an every day driver?
