223 bogging down...need help please

1964 f100 223 w/3 speed

Having problems guys. When the truck fires up and I run it for a few minutes it runs great. After it reaches operating temp, however, it goes from great to running terrible in an instant. I literally could not give her any gas or it would have died out because it was idling so rough.

I ordered a carburetor rebuild kit for it today so it'll get that treatment tomorrow. Anything else you guys think I should check out on it? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance.

Manaul choke/ stock carb? Is it getting fuel when running rough?

Mine use to do the same thing until I rebuilt my carb and adjusted it correctly so there is at least a good chance that will fix it for you too. Mine would also backfire once it finally died.

check the float to see if it has sprung a leak

its an autolite 1100 carb with manual choke. im not sure how to tell if it's getting fuel when running rough. it has fuel in the fuel filter right before the carb after i idled it home...

your float is inside your carb, if it develops a leak it will sink causing the engine to get way too much gas and run rough. open the float bowl on a cold engine with your battery disconnected. shake the brass bowl to see if it has any gas inside this may be covered in your shop manual.Make sure it is set correctly
old gas will do the same thing if it starts to break down,it starts to smell a lot like old varnish
