How much of the firewall did you cut out or just get out the bfh? Did you make your own motor mounts? Pictures would be great. Look forward to seeing more.
Well I probably wouldn't have had to cut as much out of the firewall if I was using a different front clip, however my crossmember kit uses a mustang 2 power rack and doesn't allow the motor to go down quite as much as I would have liked it to. The motor currently goes under the cowl panel and will make the rear valve cover a little rough to remove lol. As far as the motor mounts, I used the 1st gen style motor mount pad and reworked the stock motor mounts and made my own frame mounts.
8 lug 1 piece innie wheels . Starting to think that an intercooler is going to be a little tough to fit in there. Might looking into a water meth setup :/. Fuel cell is mounted and trying to fit everything under the bed is becoming a challenge. I have to make sure I have room for my bedside tool box. I did get my fuel pumps and big line kit for the fuel system, just waiting on more funds to buy the lines, fittings, and water/air seperator. Also got a regulator with boost reference too woot.
Thats just to cover the huge hole in the floor from the transmission and driveshaft lol. The worst part about the crossmember kit I used was that the rack and pinion was up rather high and given the length of the cummins, I had to run it over top of it which made the motor sit up a lot higher than I would have liked it to be. I couldn't move the motor any further back either due to the motor mounts as they would block the placement of the steering shaft and the motor was already pretty far back as you can see lol.
Floor is patched in, still have a little rust repair to do but the trans tunnel and driveshaft tunnel are done. Also had to cut a nice hole in the firewall to allow for motor clearance. Also decided to shave the cowl panel. I don't really want to do that but it beats looking at a sheetmetal box through the cowl. Cab should get bolted down tomorrow so that work can begin on mating up the front frame horns. I am going to try to shoe horn my powerstroke radiator, intercooler, and taurus fan
Guess I should update this. Frame horns are done, frame is now fully welded as of tonight as smooth as it going to get. I am running all black steel braided lines for the air ride and fuel setup with polished fittings. Just ordered all of my motor gaskets and the rest of my brake setup. Trying to figure out my power steering lines now and finish ordering my battery cables as I am making custom ones. Also ordered all new balljoints on the front as well so those will have to be pressed. I did have one expensive set back as the driveshaft refused to build a driveshaft using my 65 dana 60 as it had a 10 spline yoke. So basically, I am trading my dana 60 front axle setup that I had from another build for a built and shortened dana 70 and a custom stainless 7" CAT stack plus some cash. Hoping to have the frame painted over the weekend and finish welding up the cab so that can be bolted on for good. So many parts to order, so little money lol. I will try to get pics here soon.
