Post by ivanogburn »

What engine/tranny combos were originally offered for F100s in 1966?
Thanks,

Ivan

According to Wikipedia:

# 1965-1966 - 240ci (3.9 L) straight-6, 150HP
# 1965-1966 - 300ci (4.9 L) straight-6, 170HP
# 1965-1966 - 352ci (5.8 L) FE V8, 208HP

As you'll find out many 352's magically become 390's when they're up for sale. Just gotta check in person to know what yer getting.

3 on the tree

Cruise-O-Matic automatic (rare)(especially rare on a six)
It's a race.. Will hell freeze over or will JC finish his truck first. Stay tuned..

According to my shop manual, you could get a C4 as well.
1965 F-100 240 Autolite 1101, Disk brake dual master upgraded, swapped over to C4 and powersteering. Bought by my Dad new in March 65'

1683

Planned/considered upgrades:
Perhaps power brakes, 300 I6 motor and JUST maybe, AC!

Don't forget the 3 speed on the column with Overdrive

Actually there were lots of engine's offered for 1966 - For f100's the two inline sixes mentioned above at 240 and 300 ci, and the V8 352. But they also offered an inline six in 170 ci for P-100's. Then for the big fellas (B,F,N,T series) you could get either a 330 MD or HD V8, a 360 or 391 HD V8. If that wouldn't do ya, Ford offered a 401, 477 and 534 SHD V8. From there you went diesel from 220 to 300 to a Cummins C-160 or 180, or the NH series, Then they offered the Cummins V-6 & V-8, then the Detroit Diesel 8V-71N.
No telling what you'll find at the pick & pull.

thanks,
Doug
