Has anyone used a 78 Cougar for a frame swap?

I have a 64 SWB 114wb and the cougar has the same. Was wondering if it has been done.

I don't know that anybody has done it yet but there's always a first time . There are quite a few of us doing the crownvic swap and it should be pretty close to the same . I do know that that basic front clip has been used in several trucks over the years .

I know the ranger has been done Anthony posted some pics of a slick on a ranger chassis that looked pretty good . One thing to look at besides the wheelbase is the width of not only the chassis but also the track width of the donor vehicles . Personally I think the Cougar is going to be closer to the slick in track width than the ranger and will also ride better when done . Take a look at Hawaiikids build he is doing a 63 wrongbed truck on a crownvic chassis including the firewall and floorboards out of the crownvic. I don't see any reason why the cougar chassis wouldn't work .

The username escapes me but I remember someone here who had a short wheelbase truck on a Torino chassis (possibly '73). Not sure if the Cougar is similar.

It's my understanding that the steering box location (front vs. rear steer) plays a role in fitment as well. For example, the '79-up style of Crown Vic that Rick is using works well but earlier models had a different steering box location that caused issues.

EDIT: The username was CMenard but he hasn't been on since '07 and all the photo links are broken, so no pics. It was a 65 shortie on a '73 2-door Torino chassis.

I think the 73 is the same Chassis as the Cougar. I know a 75 grand torino is the same chassis. Thanks
