bed cover
I have a plan to make one. It will likely be a little crude but I will probably use primed MDO plywood and cut it in 4 or 5 strips that fit between the bed rails.
I'll add aluminum angle to the ends with turnable tabs that will lock it under the bed rail. A tongue and grooved joint at the seams will insure security and leak resistance. I am still devising a tailgate lock idea. The whole top will be vinyl covered with a matched color roof vinyl.
For now I am rocking my 96 Ram's fiberglass cover.
It fits poorly but is doing the job.

I have one that the perimeter frame is made of square aluminum tubing. I drilled the frame in three spots on left and right sides and used round conduit as center supports for the black vinyl that is pulled tight and fastened on the bottom side with screws. The cover uses hinges on front and the whole thing rests on four angle aluminum tabs(two about mid-bed and two near tailgate). It all sits flush (looks cool with black vinyl against the black paint),and a latch could be made but its own weight holds it down.

I saw one on ebay, but requires some modification to the box around the cab. Not sure of any modifications to the roller cover itself, but looks good.

for aesthetics/ just keeping stuff "out of sight out of mind" / wind resistance, the Vinyl ones are Quite nice......
BUT if you actually want to have ANY sort of Security, I'm pretty sure you're joking.... 2-3 slashes with a Jack knife and the roof has fallen in....
a solid material of any sort would be the way to go.... The 1/8 aluminum sounds by far the best unless you were to custom fab a fiberglass top to fit...

I saw one locally a kid made for his S 10 like that. It was very nice. Would be the way to go for a Uni. Guess I'll need 2, LOL.chop wrote:check out my pics , I made one out of 1/8 aluminum sheet with 1" square aluminum tubing frame.
