Go to any wrecking yard, there are or used to be stacks of Pintos and Mustang II's that had rolled over like circus dogs. A few around here flipped end over end on straight roads with no mechanical failure, they just tripped over their own front wheels. Those things are worse than the old Corvairs for being ill- handling little beasts, never designed for anything but city driving. Then they sold them to young drivers that had no idea what they were getting, and not a clue how to get out of trouble if they got out of shape. No wonder there are so many "donor" cars around! If you are just going to roll it on and off a trailer and want to be "in" with a cool-sounding "fatman" or some such, go right ahead. Just don't drive it anywhere around me!
"Tripped over their own front wheels"!!!! Where was the internet back in those days? Looks like ol' non-driver Ralphie would have been all over that!
My memory must be getting worse all the time, but I just don't remember those facts. Seems I would have seen or heard of such, since I tended to be around a lot of "run what you brung" activities, as well as working on these vehicles daily, and first becoming certified (NIASE, now referred to as ASE),
on "front end" as well as seven other fields, in 1975.
If you feel the Pintos and Corvairs were not of optimum handling in those days, just say so; I seem to remember the larger cars of the day being particularly "evil" handling. Our city police chief in those days went on the record as stating the big Fords were "race car motors in (no-handling) bodies".
As for the last sentence, probably not a problem
Don't take my statements as being in favor of a particular conversion; just like the original poster, I need and appreciate constructive information, particularly from people with the hands on experience such as Tom mentioned. There were, and are a bunch of people who fit that category here!
People who are "pushing the envelope" and continously proving and improving their trucks; Dan, Tom, El Polacko, KStone, even Alan

, and many, many others; not to overlook the local members who have "been there", and also become friends, are appreciated for their help and information.
Again, as Tom mentioned, this is what this site is all about IMO, and I thank everyone for contributing to it.
Thanks again,
Paul
Edit, I stand corrected! I made a quick search and WAS able to find a video of "Pinto rollover" It's from Forza Motorsports 4"
Not that this has anything to do with utilizing a MII !
