My first thought would be a grounding issue. I'd check that real good first.

check your headlamp bulbs also. The same thing happened to my 65 and one of the filaments in the driver side bulb broke and shorted out that light causing them to go on and off when you went over bumps.

I would first of all check the grounds, then check all connections. The switch is also notorious for creating problems, best thing to do if you are replacing with a new switch is to also go with the headlight relay and reduce the current going throught the switch. The relay kit is available from LMC also.

The dimmer gets pretty beat up too. It caused mine to work intermitantly.

Blinking headlights are common on slicks.Best thing to do is like Dean said . I added relays to mine and the problem was gone.

Might check and see if there is a circuit breaker on the switch. They will auto reset making your head lights flash on and off.

yes the headlight switches have circut breakers in them and will pop on and off as they heat up and cool down. possibly a bd dimmer switch if it only does it on high beams. but it could be the headlight switch.
