Kevin, i dont know how i run across these nice condition trucks, and i am blessed to have a wife that allows me to buy them.
Barnie, no info from the last owner, the guy who owned it left it when he left his wife LOL.
acording to the vin decode Bill(ND) did it was orderd from ford by the US government, there is no color code. it had a Texas DPS sticker in the front window from 1998, i changed the oil today and after questioning professor Dave here are some plans, Protronix will replace the points, it needs a clutch, So... i am going to look for a T170FT RST trans and SB bell housing, i already started in on all the oxidation removal and it looks real good, it has the 240. not the 300. i just want a good work truck for in town use and the ease of going down the hwy if i want. i did find a couple of rust spots in the red support, quarter size at most. I'm gonna have fun and give my other truck a break for a while. Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Oh, and i might do the disc brake swap too.

I love that truck!

I think I should start looking for a flareside bed for my truck. I could probably get big bucks for my pristine styleside.

Cool truck!
Why are you replacing the 4-Speed?
If it cain't be fixed with a sledge hammer it must be an electrical problem!

so i can take it down the hwy at speed if i want and better gas mileage.

with the T18 and 4.10 rear gears 55 mph is about tops.

Very clean truck, definately a goverment agency or utility, the public rarely would order this type of truck. Large front fenders were used on 2WD's when optional maximum rim size was ordered as in photo.I bet your truck has a 4.56 ratio not a 4.10 and came with 19.5" rims, not the 16" rims on there now. Great looking work truck, Bill! I wish I could find a clean 250 over here.

I've had two 250's with the large fender openings. Both had 240/4spd combos. One had 19.5" wheels and 4.56 rear. The other one has 4.10 gears and aftermarket 16.5" wheels.

Bill, That truck really cleans up nice. Was the previous owner half blind? I thought maybe that was why he needed that great big spot mirror on the passenger door.
